Nurturing Young Minds & Bodies For Positive Whole Person Wellbeing

Prevention Programme Aimed At Teenagers Through Schools

Becky Burnett is a Creative Arts Therapist who specialises in treating eating disorders. marissa-catherine carrarini is a Nutritional Therapist working with mental health and disordered eating. Alongside our clinical work, we offer a prevention programme aimed at teenagers through schools. This programme aims to help teenagers nurture an awareness of their mental health and steer away from increasingly common mental health issues.

When it comes to mental wellbeing, today’s world is confused and confusing. There are many conflicting values, beliefs, and advice. In our programme, we hope to debunk myths, challenge wellbeing stereotypes, and help everyone have their own individual wellbeing needs met.

We passionately believe in the value of prevention and the value of frank and honest conversations.

We are acutely aware of how teenagers need to be listened to and heard. They need to have a space to work through troubling core beliefs and confused behaviours and to start challenging unwell thoughts as early as possible.

We offer a series of workshops, talks, and group support courses to encourage positive mental health and self-care in teenagers. Please see below for an outline of what they involve:

Workshop – Workshops are one-off, interactive sessions during which we cover a number of different topics depending on the needs of the teenagers. We encourage students and/or families to be as involved as possible so that, as a team, we find positive responses and thought processes to difficulties and to challenge disordered ideals. Questions will be answered throughout the session.

Talks – Talks will consist of 45 minutes of a lecture-style presentation and 15 minutes of Q&A. Topics can be the same or similar to those for the workshops.

Group Support Courses – Group support courses can be on all kinds of emotional wellbeing issues as well as disordered eating issues. These weekly sessions can be booked for the whole term or for half a term. We recommend that the students attending are in the same year group or the same Key Stage. The sessions are confidential, however, if we have a concern about a particular student (medical, psychological, or related to safeguarding), we will inform the school.

All workshops and talks can be offered both online or face-to-face. Group support courses will be provided face-to-face
